Xiaoping Pan, Biology Professor, Presented with Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Activity

Congratulations to CHHE member Dr. Xiaoping Pan, recipient of ECU’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Activity. Dr. Pan’s research focuses on how environmental contaminants (e.g., nanoparticles, GenX, triclosan) and parasitic species affect organisms by altering biochemical processes and gene expression, particularly through microRNA (miRNA) production. Her pioneering work includes studying parasitic nematodes in crops, toxic effects of metallic nanoparticles, and health impacts of crude oil-dispersant mixtures from the Deepwater Horizon spill. A prolific scholar with 49 journal articles, 5 book chapters, and over 11,000 citations, Dr. Pan is dedicated to mentoring future researchers, securing funding to provide students with valuable biotechnology experience.
