Powerful high-throughput sequencing technology available through the Genomic Sciences Laboratory (GSL) supports CHHE researchers to conduct complete transcriptome analysis whereby both transcriptome development and abundance are examined within a single experiment. These same technologies and resources will also allow for genome-wide studies of DNA/protein interactions (ChIPseq), gene mutation analysis, SNP analysis, DNA methylation changes, RNA-seq and micro RNA analysis, eQTL analysis, Genotyping by Sequencing (GBS), and Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS).

Bioinformatics support is provided by the CHHE’s Environmental Data Science Group (EDSG). EDSG will conduct informatics analyses of large data sets from in silico, in vitro, in vivo, and population studies to address important problems in EHS. Visualization is vital to the analysis of large datasets and multi-omic integration, and members are directed to personnel and software to generate appropriate data graphics. Bioinformatic support is provided cost-free to CHHE full members.

STC Voucher Program

All full center members are eligible for the Systems Technology Core (STC) Voucher Program. Under this program, CHHE provides 50% of the costs up to $15K/member for $30K STC services for projects with EHS relevance.  

To participate, complete a STC voucher request, which includes estimated costs and a project description. The major approval criterion will be that funds must be used for EHS-related projects.

Update: Due to the pandemic and research restart, from July to December 31, 2021 CHHE full members can use their STC funds to get NGS sequencing done at external vendors such as Duke, UNC-CH, Novagene etc. CHHE will reevaluate this temporary change at the end of 2021.
